Gummy treat.

This illustration of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World I crop from the net really enchants me. The artist does rewind us to the past showing a great deal of the then magnificent structures during their high and almighty times. It is to say how great they actually were when built without any modern construction tools. The builders, slaves and exploited workers. Those were the days where philosophy did not exist. They build to please their Lords (being linked to Gods) when directed so, otherwise they would be exiled. The only Ancient Wonders that is still standing is The Great Pyramid of Giza. The others were all destroyed either by the force of nature or through barbaric inhumane act.

We know that Modern Wonders have been voted and established on the 7th of July 2007 ("Hey that's the date I flew over here"). Even so, these Ancient Wonders should never be forgotten. I'm proud to say they would live on in the hearts of many, and mine. :)

From left to right, top to bottom: The Great Pyramid of Giza, Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Temple of Artemis at Epheseus, Statue of Zeus at Olympia, Mausoleum of Maussollos, Collossus of Rhodes and The Lighthouse of Alexandria. Pardon me for any misspellings.

It would be great to be "able" to visit those Ancient Wonders. Sadly, the one we could now is only The Great Pyramid of Giza. I envy those that have been there. It would be great to visit the ruins as well :)

Love, like rain,
Can nourish from above,
Drenching couples with a soaking joy.
But sometimes,
Under the angry heat of life,
Love dries on the surface,
and must be nourish from below,
tending to its roots,
Keeping itself alive.

My day today did not went too well. I beat my alarm clock to waking up first. That's a good start. After having breakfast of usual Muesli and other so-called "Health Food", I rushed to the Uni's study space hoping to finish up my readings. It was unusually pack, for a weekend, still the lucky charm worked, again. I got myself a reading cum computer space in a matter of seconds. I was hoping to get my rhythm flowing but things, unnecessary things, kept carving their path across my mind. Distraction was mainly from the computer. Upon logging on, web-surfing starts to flow through my veins so did the screen. Lack of self-discipline. Yadda-yadda... Distractions were majorly contributed by a basketball game between UMSA and the KIWI Asian club at noon. It was dilemma for me whether to play or not to play as my ankle wasn't completely healed. Though I did in the end ..

It was just a friendly match but these guys seemed to be playing for pride. You see, we beat them last year. They went all out. So did ourselves I suppose but many of my mates weren't at their 100%. Weather effect :P The gym was exceptionally cold. Added the match tension, we can't really tell why our hands were "trembling". We bowed out to their upgraded squad in the final 4th... easy baskets and all. When I said they went all out, they really did. This guy, Wee Chin, a member of the UMSA team, went for an easy lay-up. Because it was THAT EASY, one of the opposing members went up on him. HARD! They collided mid-air and it was just too easy for that guy to use Wee Chin as his landing pad. I was at the other end of the gym while this happened though I witnessed the whole incident. The sound of the landing erupted and echoed across the gym. True, the guy managed a spectacular block off the board and he was up and going. Wee Chin however suffered serious injuries. A knock to his head and a fractured clavicle ( ..collar bone?). He was immediately taken to the hospital for further check up. You know what... This guy is a super nice fellow. In fact, he recently took part in some fund raiser to help those unfortunate victims of the China disastrous quake. God is sometimes, unfair. Or that's just how life is. Jun the mean girl tried to snap pictures of the situation =.= Get well soon brother... We'll miss you in the court.

Today as I sat in front of my laptop, I couldn't help scrolling through my msn list. Who doesn't? I am certainly free as I look on the outside, procrastinating on the inside. It was well worth though. I spoke to Ernie, so called friend who has forgotten me. Can't remember when the last time was though. Still she's sister #2. :P It was great catching up with you really. She has just finished her 1st year in Chemical Engineering, awaiting results. Good luck. I've learned that she may cook good meat dishes, but does not cook veggie dishes that well. Don't worry, I'll teach you when I get back. Hahaha...

Have you ever had your sushi moments?

I rarely eat sushi you see, so THOSE are ginormous amount to me. I shall call this MY sushi moments.

The platter:

Many eels.

Many sushi rolls.

Many more !

The best part about this is that most of the rolls are Japanese rice filled. These are my favourite! And they don't come cheap here. Well this was supposed to be a 21st Birthday dinner celebration for Kenneth so all was on him. ;) Thanks ogre, you made my sushi moments. OH and as seen on the 2nd picture above, the Wasabi comes in the shape of a leaf. That's some art!

Gettin' creamed. Well done, James!

You'd be surprise, Durian cake?

Sushi rolls are really filling. I was told to come hungry for the dinner. I figured how many "sushis" would it take to fill 8 heads? I was shocked to see the platters laid on the table when I got there. First timer, will never forget my sushi moments. HAHA! Regret regret.. I was quite full due to a heavy lunch I had late in the evening. Still.. I took around 7 pieces. The dinner must have cost a bomb baby, seriously. Just look at it.

It's Tham Tham's 20th! ...and Ai Ling too!

The only pic I have of you in my laptop. :( (Ms. Tham)

That's Ai Ling.

The only few in school to share the same birthdays. How lucky? Do you know of anyone sharing the same date as YOURS?

The European Champions have been crowned in Moscow. It is the red-half of Manchester that is celebrating. Glory glory Manchester United!
Give them credit for beating Chelsea; by what... through Penalties on the soaking wet pitch with top talents like Ronaldo, John Terry and Nicholas Anelka missing their shots.

Earlier in the match, we saw Drogba got sent off. Manchester United couldn't take advantage of the 10 man team so the game went into shootouts instead after extra time with the score tied at 1-1.

Ronaldo wasn't confident at all in taking that spot kick which he missed. He hesitated before striking the ball towards the left where Cech was already heading that way. Saved! Nani had his fair bit of luck.. his ball was sent to where Cech had dived. The ball brushed pass Cech's glove to the back of the net. Anderson hit a straight "In-your-face" one next. It all came down to the Captain John Terry for the "thought-to-be" closure. The over-confident Terry thought he will win it all for Chelsea (taking the centerstage for the WIN). That's when he slipped (slightly) upon kicking sending the ball to the right post bouncing off it. Awww.. :(

Old-timer Giggs was confident enough to make his. Yes.. and winter acquisition Nicholas Anelka's final shot was saved by the keeper. Van der Sar was of hero of the new Champions!

Rumour has it that being a Muslim, Anelka purposely strike the ball right where Van der Sar was diving towards; not wanting to win it for the Jew a.k.a Avram Grant (Sorry folks if this gets too offensive).

Anyways.. Congratulations to Manchester United the 2008 Champions of Europe.

Red Devils.

I'm giving the old shoutbox a try.. It is much smoother unlike the previous one. I have to edit the colours still to allow it to blend into the natural colours of the page. Feel free to drop anything there. :)

Petrology is killing me. Three hours looking down a petrographic microscope, my brain cells...ah! I walked out halfway through lab to grab lunch.. then, back to resume the work. This is not wrong. In fact, my lecturer encourages us to do so.

A good samaritan is more like a lucky person who had his chance to do a good deed and did so. We could argue over who is being the good guy and who is the bad one in showbiz; but when it comes to reality, can we simply judge people by the amount of good things he (or she) has done? He's the lucky one. The good stuffs just happen to appear more often in front of him.. and so if he does all that, we could call him a good samaritan then? .. OH don't get to the charity part. It will flux my point. :(

I passed down on two good deeds to help a friend today. On the other hand, I helped out another friend and one other stranger. Things sort of balance up. Oh well. I'm doing good and my ankle is healing well.. =] Pulled it slightly during ball. It's the time around where "Study Mood" is in need indeed.

*Spurs* are through! They stung the Hornets in their nest.

My shoutbox doesn't seem to be working. I tried replying all but only the latest one (for Cheryl) appeared. It's high time to change this imperfecto to my old widget.

Short replies:

Dear.. Come and I'll treat you to an "All-You-Can-Eat" Moven Pick, deal? Miss you toO, love!

Hehn: Yupoo bro, we have MovenPick here as well. Tasted it? Its fantalicious! Seen your recent post about Arsenal. I admit they ran out of steam late game which sucks. But no worries man, I trust they'll be at their top playing great football. Congrats to MU!

Zeon: Hey hey xP Its the new and improved Zeon now laa? What happen to Deric? .. I'm all good now. Thank youuu...

Ale: Hello back! :D

Three things:
Now when I look at my white Arsenal away-kit, the great push the young lads made will be remembered. 3rd place is an encouragement; 3rd place is where we are that close to gold (or silver"wares"), almost there. Get well soon Eduardo! ~ Victory to Manchester United as the season comes to an end.

NBA regular season comes to an end. Playoffs! Kobe is MVP! Go Lakers!

I would not like to study concepts.. I would read facts and stats notes anytime then build concepts out of them for people to read about it.

KB24
Rocky Widner/NBAE/Getty Images

Now who would be wrong to hand the 11-year NBA pro the Maurice Podoloff Trophy? He has been outstanding playing an all-around game with a pinky for a finger, shouldering the load of his team during the absence of his supportive cast, being able to mesh and get the chemistry going with new-comer Pau, and finally taking his team "single-handedly" to the No.1 spot in the heavily Superstar-packed Western Conference. Who'd deserve more than Kobe?

It took 12 seasons, but ...

KB24 is finally..

MVP!

Unfolded clothes

Cold is never mens' best friend. I thought I was smart enough to do my laundry on a weekday; on a day where the wind never seem to cease. I was even smarter to chuck the jacket insulating me into the washing machine and walk back home with only a real thin T. As a result, I caught this extremely friendly cold who's stuck to me like an old pal. Go away cold! The pile of laundry seen above... is what I'll be sleeping with for the night. I need a RedBull to get them folded at this hour, or else tomorrow it is!

At least.. La Porchetta for dinner under Sky Tower. Hikki!

Butter & Jam

My night snack. Bread with Anchor's pure butter and blackberry jam. Simply delicious! This normally goes with a cup of Blue Top milk. It'll be a good night after all that. No worries of getting fat whatsoever.

The pic: Bad lighting effect. Sorry.

For no reason at all, this song has been revolving in my dreams for the past few nights and been playing in my conscious head every second since.

Closing Time - Semisonic

Punke'd.

Meet Vim. He claims that he's the #1 fan of Jason Lo and because of that, he got punked!

It happened at the end of Food Night where we were kind enough to help the committee members to clean up the Marae. A nearby laptop was blasting music to keep the silent night outside away from the inside atmosphere. Vim went to the music source and scrolled through the entire playlists (500 over songs). To his disappointment plastered on his face, there weren't any JLo's tracks. That was when the idea came.

While he was away at the "Wahine" (Washroom), my friends and I took this golden opportunity to quickly change the title of a song to "Jason Lo - Evening News". When he got back, we told him that we manage to find a JLo song on one of the folders in there. You should have seen the expression on his face.. he got all hyped so we dared him to go switch the song. Being me, I'm really bad at pretending. The laughter was squeezing through my stomach so much so that I had to leave the scene for a moment. Immediately, "Amercan Idiot" blasted out loud from the speakers. We were laughing out like a bunch of wild donkeys! There were people who stared at us not knowing what had happened. We kept telling him how much we love JLo's song.. especially the one that's playing now. We idolized him for singing "American Idiot". Stun and speechless he was really. Lmao!

That was a joke. Take it easy man.. cause you just got Punke'd!

Rare Kiwanos

Don't normally see them around.

Friday, May 02, 2008

I have to record this down. Today I had something extraordinary for supper.. Sure the usual bubble tea with pearls came along. What I had today was cow's tongue pierced on a stick just like satay and deep fry chicken cartilage. This is my first time trying those food and yes its pretty unusual for late night snacks. The tongue had a unique texture; like sponge, barely able to tear upon biting. It took me a great deal of time to much them into bits. The taste was nullified with the added spices and sauces. It tasted like BBQ chicken breasts, so eating them was alright. It was the thought of it being a cow's tongue that made me disgusted. As for the cartilages, they're just like popcorn chicken. I swallowed everything down, including my thoughts, with the bubble tea. Taro is still the best of all but tonight I had Jasmine Milk Tea instead; and they forgot my pearls. Damn!

Those snacks didn't come cheap. They're sure to make a hell lot from it consider those cartilages and tongues are meant to be disposed off during slaughter. Oh.. and it was my turn on the bill.

Sorry cows, I frenched you. =/

Old Science Building

Today is the Grand Opening of the SciSpace. In case you can't figure out what a SciSpace is, its NOT just any ordinary place for Science students to rest and relax, its the FIRST AND ONLY Space the Science faculty has on its block. Like finally! Its quite an open area. On the other side (Still part of this space) is where Maths and Stats Help "space" is. The two are separated by an office block.

The opening of this space marks the beginning of a new chapter... the dawn of a new age! Yes seriously, the Science building is really old. To top it up, its painted dirt brown which makes the building look ancient.. a historical sight. Compare this with the Engineering building, the Science space looks cheap and lazily designed. The interior, we still use hand-push doors to get from one place to another while the Engineering building has the auto-glass doors which open up when the sensor detects you. Also we have no such 24/7 computer labs that of the Engineering building. That's unfair; no wonder most engineers get their design projects done on time. Our lecture theatres (some of them) still uses chalk and dusters like old school to teach. Coughs* Compare the old Science building with the newly built Fisher and Pakyll building for Business students. OhMY! :O Our building would probably gain a couple of points on the historical site rankings. I doubt!

SO this is how people conclude things:

Science < Engineering < Business!

But recently, they have started interior renovation on almost all sections. That's a good sign. They have also replaced the comps in the labs with all new MAC pcs but it still closes at 8 though. In time to come, from what I've heard, they are going to remodel the whole building for a complete new look, or even better.

Yes! Now we are starting to be off equal standards. Just wait you business/engineering peeps! We are slow, but we are the first and we are steady. We're not only into miniscule microscopic science research projects thus not getting all trendy ourselves, cause we will be.. eventually!

Science = Engineering = Business

So once again, I remind you that the opening of this SciSpacre marks the beginning of something from Science.

Free food and drinks! Yes.. I'm high on sugar after that much consumption. Oh! There's this one specific chocolate coated honey comb cookie which got me jumping around looking for more! I'm no cookie fan but THAT was irresistible. I'm yet to know the brand; I'd fill my cookie box up with that for the next couple of weeks.
